AI Agent Overview

The Joyous AI Agent is your planning partner. Instead of manually breaking down every goal into tasks, the agent reads your outcomes, understands your context, and generates actionable work — complete with effort estimates, dependencies, and improvement suggestions. It's like having a senior project manager available on every outcome and card.

Three AI actions

The agent offers three distinct actions, each accessible from the AI button (sparkle icon) on outcome and work card detail pages:

Decompose

Available on outcomes. Breaks an outcome into a set of suggested work cards. The AI reads your goal, context, directives, and success signals to generate cards with:

• Card names and goals
• Estimated effort (e.g., "2 hours," "1 day")
• Dependencies between cards
• Optional assignee suggestions based on team member skills

Refine

Available on work cards. Analyzes an existing card and suggests improvements to its goal and document content. Each suggestion includes:

• The original text
• An improved version
• An explanation of why the change helps

Scope

Available on both outcomes and work cards. Provides a comprehensive readiness assessment including requirements, constraints, dependencies, acceptance criteria, gap analysis, and a readiness score.

How to access the agent

Click the AI button in the header of any outcome or work card detail page. A dropdown shows the available actions for that entity type:

• Outcomes → Analyze readiness (Scope), Break into work cards (Decompose)
• Work cards → Analyze readiness (Scope), Improve specification (Refine), Execute work

Select an action to start the agent. Results appear in the AI drawer on the right side of the page with a real-time reasoning trace showing the agent's thinking process.
