Notification Types
Learn about status changes, assignments, mentions, comments, and deadline alerts.
Joyous notifies you about the events that matter — changes to work you own, new assignments, mentions in discussions, and approaching deadlines. Each notification type serves a distinct purpose, and understanding them helps you triage your inbox efficiently.
Status change notifications
When a work card or outcome you're subscribed to changes status — for example, moving from Committed to Done or from Active to Blocked — you receive a status change notification.
These notifications include:
- The entity name and type (outcome or work card)
- The old and new status
- Who made the change
- A timestamp
Assignment notifications
When someone assigns you to a work card, you receive an assignment notification. This ensures you know about new responsibilities immediately, without waiting for a standup or email.
Mention notifications
Mentions are triggered when someone types @your-name in a comment, status update, or document. Mention notifications are high-signal — someone specifically called you out and likely needs your input.
Mentions are the best way to get someone's attention in Joyous. Use @mentions in comments to ask questions, request reviews, or flag blockers to specific people.
Comment notifications
When someone posts a comment on an outcome or work card you're subscribed to, you receive a comment notification. These include a preview of the comment content so you can decide whether to engage immediately or come back later.
Deadline reminder notifications
As a deadline approaches for an outcome or card you're assigned to, Joyous sends a reminder notification. This helps you stay ahead of due dates without relying on calendar reminders.
Update notifications
When someone posts a status update on an outcome you follow, you receive an update notification. These include the update body preview and any health badge (On Track, At Risk, Off Track).
Entity subscriptions
You receive notifications based on entity subscriptions. You're automatically subscribed when you:
- Are assigned to a work card
- Are the producer of an outcome
- Post a comment or update on an entity
- Are mentioned on an entity
This means you only receive notifications for work you're connected to — not every change across the entire organization.
Notification priorities range from Urgent to None, matching the priority of the underlying entity. High-priority notifications appear with visual emphasis in the inbox.
