Collaboration in Joyous happens where the work is. Every outcome and work card has a built-in comment system with threaded discussions, @mentions, and real-time updates — so conversations stay connected to the context they're about.
How collaboration works
Instead of switching to a separate chat app or email thread, you discuss work directly on the entity it relates to. This means:
- Questions about a card's requirements? Comment on the card.
- Feedback on an outcome's progress? Post an update on the outcome.
- Need someone's input? @mention them and they get an inbox notification.
All conversations are preserved as part of the entity's history, creating a permanent record of decisions, discussions, and context.
Real-time collaboration
Comments and updates are delivered in real time via Supabase Realtime. When a teammate posts a comment on a card you're viewing, it appears instantly — no refresh needed. This makes Joyous feel responsive even for distributed teams.
Use comments for discussions about the work and updates for status communication. Comments ask "how should we build this?" while updates answer "how is this going?"
