@Mentions
Mention team members in comments and documents to notify them.
When you need someone's attention, @mentions are the fastest way to reach them. Type @ in any comment or status update, select a team member from the autocomplete dropdown, and they'll receive an inbox notification linking them directly to the conversation.
How to mention someone
Type @ in the editor
In any comment editor or update form, type the @ symbol. An autocomplete dropdown appears immediately.
Search for a team member
Start typing the person's name. The dropdown filters in real time, showing matching organization members with their avatars.
Select the person
Click on the member's name to insert the mention. Their name appears as a highlighted link in the text.
Post your message
Submit the comment or update. The mentioned person receives an inbox notification.
Where you can use mentions
Mentions work in two contexts:
- Comments — On outcomes and work cards. Use mentions to ask questions, request reviews, or flag issues to specific people.
- Status updates — On outcome update feeds. Use mentions to call out stakeholders in health updates or to request input on blockers.
In both cases, the mention creates a notification that links directly to the entity where the mention occurred.
Use @mentions sparingly and intentionally. A mention says "I specifically need your input on this" — it's more targeted than a general notification. If you just want to share information, post a comment without mentioning anyone.
Mention notifications
When you're mentioned, a mention notification appears in your Inbox. These are high-signal notifications because someone specifically called you out:
- The notification shows who mentioned you and on which entity
- A preview of the comment or update body is included
- Click the notification to jump directly to the conversation
Mention notifications are distinct from general comment notifications, making them easy to identify and prioritize.
Mention formatting
Mentions appear as highlighted text in the rendered comment or update — typically in blue with an underline, making them visually distinct from regular text. This helps other readers see at a glance who was called into the conversation.
The mention autocomplete shows all members of your organization, not just the team assigned to the current outcome or card. You can mention anyone in the org.
