Health Tracking
Monitor outcome health with On Track, At Risk, and Off Track statuses.
Progress bars tell you what percentage of work is done. Health tracking tells you whether you're going to hit the goal. Joyous combines both — automated progress from card completion and human-reported health statuses — so you always know where things really stand.
Health statuses
Every outcome can have a health status that communicates its current trajectory:
- On Track — Work is progressing as expected and the goal is on pace to be met. Shown with a green badge.
- At Risk — Something could derail the outcome if not addressed. Shown with a yellow badge.
- Off Track — The outcome is behind schedule or facing a significant blocker. Shown with a red badge.
Health badges appear on the outcome detail page, in update cards, and wherever outcomes are listed — making it easy to scan for problems across your organization.
Posting health updates
Health updates are the primary way to communicate outcome status to your team and stakeholders.
Open the outcome
Navigate to the outcome you want to update.
Go to the Updates tab
Click the Updates tab to see the update feed and the update form.
Write your update
Use the rich text editor to describe the current state. You can format text with bold, italic, code, lists, and links. Type @ to mention team members who should be notified.
Click Post Update
Your update appears in the feed with your avatar, timestamp, and health badge. Team members see it on the outcome page and receive inbox notifications if mentioned.

Post health updates regularly — even a quick "On Track, no blockers this week" gives stakeholders confidence and creates a useful history. If the status changes, the badge makes it immediately visible.
The update feed
Updates appear in reverse chronological order on the outcome's Updates tab. Each update card shows:
- Author — Name, avatar, and timestamp
- Health badge — The health status at the time of the update
- Body — Rich text content with formatting and @mentions
- Thread actions — Reply to start a thread, resolve to mark a discussion as complete
Updates support threaded replies, so discussions can happen in context without cluttering the main feed. Thread authors can mark a thread as Resolved when the discussion is concluded.
Deleting updates
If you need to remove an update, hover over your own update and click the more menu (three dots), then select Delete. Only the author of an update can delete it.
Health updates are separate from the automated progress percentage, which is driven by work card completion. Think of health as the human signal ("are we going to make it?") and progress as the automated signal ("how much is done?").
