Planning & Commitment
Commit work cards to sprints and manage sprint scope.
Sprint planning is where strategy meets execution. You review your backlog, select the cards that align with your current priorities, and commit them to a sprint. The goal is to scope work realistically — commit to what the team can actually deliver in the timeframe.
Adding cards to a sprint
There are two ways to commit cards to a sprint:
From the card detail page
Open the work card
Navigate to any work card you want to include in a sprint.
Set the Sprint property
In the properties sidebar, click the Sprint dropdown and select the target sprint. The card is now committed to that sprint.
From the sprint detail page
On the sprint detail page, you can see all currently committed cards and add new ones. Cards committed to the sprint appear grouped by status — giving you a clear picture of what's planned, in progress, and done.
Managing sprint scope
Sprint scope is flexible — you can add or remove cards at any time, even during an active sprint.
- Add a card — Assign its Sprint property to the current sprint from the card detail page
- Remove a card — Change the Sprint property to "None" or move it to a different sprint
- Move between sprints — Change the Sprint dropdown value to shift a card from one sprint to another
Keep your sprint scope realistic. It's better to commit to 8 cards and finish all of them than to commit to 15 and finish 9. Consistent completion builds team confidence and predictable delivery.
Sprint progress
The sprint detail page shows your execution progress:
- Card list by status — See which cards are in Backlog, Committed, Blocked, or Done
- Status dots — Color-coded indicators next to each card (gray for Backlog, yellow for Committed, red for Blocked, green for Done)
- Card count — Total number of committed cards
- Date range — The sprint's start and end dates displayed in the header
As cards move to Done, the sprint's completion picture improves. When the sprint time window ends, close it to capture the final snapshot.
Viewing sprint progress
Each card in the sprint view is a clickable link to its detail page. This makes sprint standups efficient — click into any card to see its full context, assignees, and activity without leaving the sprint.
Cards display:
- A unique icon and color for visual identification
- The card name
- A status dot with the current status label
- The assignee avatar (if assigned)
Cards not assigned to any sprint stay in the backlog. You can filter the Work Cards page by "No sprint" to see all unplanned cards across your outcomes.
